Located in east Boca Raton, Palm Beach Safety Swimming offers year around private swim lessons in a temperature controlled, saltwater pool.
Our specialized programs teach innovative swimming, stroke development, and survival skills to all ages. We provide a mix of new challenges and promising results. But, more importantly at the core of our mission, lies our commitment to utilizing a safe, engaging and rewarding learning environment.

Unlike other swim schools that may rely on inexperienced staff, we are fully certified, licensed, and insured. Our founder, Ms. Shelbey, is triple-certified and brings years of hands-on experience to every lesson, ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
Every swimmer’s progress is carefully evaluated, organized, and monitored, with detailed notes taken to build on previous lessons. Our structured yet adaptable approach allows each swimmer to gain confidence, master essential skills, and progress at their own pace.
At Palm Beach Safety Swimming, learning goes beyond the basics. Swimmers develop lifesaving skills, proper swimming techniques, advanced strokes and water safety awareness for pools, lakes, and oceans. Join us and gain the confidence and skills that will last a lifetime.
Meet Our Team
Ms. Shelbey
Ms. Shelbey is a highly qualified instructor with certifications as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches Instructor, and American Red Cross CPR & AED certified. Additionally, she is a Licensed American Red Cross Training Provider. She has extensive experience teaching swimming and water safety to individuals of all ages, including swim coaches. Since 2002, Ms. Shelbey has successfully coached swimmers of all skill levels. Her academic experience includes teaching Beginner and Intermediate Swimming as an Adjunct Professor at Wingate University and serving as the Head Diving Coach for Wingate University's Division II Diving Team.
Born and raised in Boca Raton, Ms. Shelbey's lifelong passion for swimming began with the Boca Mantas, continued through Boca Middle and Boca High Swim Teams, and advanced with the Fort Lauderdale Elite Junior & Senior Olympics Diving Programs. After graduating from Boca Raton High School, she earned an athletic scholarship to North Carolina State University, where she competed as a Division I Diver from 2002 to 2006.
After living in North Carolina for 20 years, Ms. Shelbey returned to Boca Raton with her family in 2022. Her love for teaching swimming and water safety is evident in her tailored approach, understanding the unique personality of each swimmer. With her positive coaching style and extensive experience, she ensures that swimmers of all ages gain the confidence they need to excel in water safety and swimming. She looks forward to meeting you and/or your little ones and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience in and around the water.
Ms. Ella
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Ms. Ella developed her love for swimming as a high school athlete, excelling in backstroke and earning recognition for her dedication and determination.
Since 2021, Ms. Ella has devoted herself to nurturing confident and capable swimmers, teaching children as young as six months old. She is extensively trained, holding CPR and First Aid certifications, alongside advanced training from Ms. Shelbey, a licensed Red Cross training provider. Her commitment to safety and skill development underscores her passion for empowering young swimmers.
With over six years of childcare experience, including infant and toddler care, Ms. Ella has a unique ability to connect with children, fostering trust and encouragement in and out of the pool. Inspired by her triplet siblings and a lifelong love of helping others, she is dedicated to making every lesson at Palm Beach Safety Swimming a positive and supportive experience. Her goal is to instill confidence, independence, and a genuine love for swimming in every child she teaches.
