Located in east Boca Raton, Palm Beach Safety Swimming offers year around private swim lessons in a temperature controlled, saltwater pool.
Our specialized programs teach innovative swimming, stroke development, and survival skills to all ages. We provide a mix of new challenges and promising results. But, more importantly at the core of our mission, lies our commitment to utilizing a safe, engaging and rewarding learning environment.
Those who join Palm Beach Safety Swimming will not only learn how to safely swim but they will also gain confidence and self-awareness in the water. Together, our experiences and positive approach, makes Palm Beach Safety Swimming one of the best swim schools in the area.
Unlike other swim schools who hire teens or inexperienced staff, Palm Beach Safety Swimming is certified, licensed and insured. Ms. Shelbey is triple certified, has years of experience working with swimmers and the knowledge needed to provide a positive, safe and engaging learning environment in and around the water. She constantly checks, organizes, leads and assesses every swimmer's ability. She provides a holistic approach with a consistent, buildable routine, and takes detailed notes to ensure every swimmer is getting the most out of each swim lesson.
Those who join Palm Beach Safety Swimming will not just learn how to back float; they will learn multiple lifesaving swimming skills, proper swimming techniques, swimming strokes and how to be safe in and around a pool, lake or ocean.

Meet Ms. Shelbey
"I'm Here To Help Keep You Safe!"
Ms. Shelbey is a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, certified American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches instructor and American Red Cross CPR & AED certified. She can teach all ages how to swim and be safe in and around water. She can also teach water safety lessons to all ages and swim coaches. Since 2002, she has successfully coached all ages how to swim. She also taught Beginner Swimming and Intermediate Swimming as an Adjunct Professor and was the Head Diving Coach of the Division II Diving Team at Wingate University.
Born in Boca Raton, Ms. Shelbey grew up in the water. She swam on the Boca Mantas, Boca Middle and Boca High Swim Teams, and she was a part of the Fort Lauderdale Elite Junior & Senior Olympics Diving Programs. After graduating from Boca Raton High School, Shelbey received an Athletic Scholarship to North Carolina State University and was a Division I Diver from 2002-2006.
Ms. Shelbey lived in North Carolina for 20 years and recently moved back to her hometown of Boca Raton with her family in 2021. She loves to teach all ages how to be swim and be safe in and around water. With years of teaching experience, and 3 kids of her own, she understands the importance of embracing each swimmer's unique personality, and tailors her learning experiences to ensure each swimmer is getting the most out of each lesson. With her positive coaching style and extensive experience, swimmers of all ages will gain the confidence they need to excel in water safety and swimming. She looks forward to meeting you and/or your little ones and keeping you and/or your little ones safe in and around the water!

Programs
Please note: Palm Beach Safety Swimming’s programs are not an ISR type program nor are we a six-week course. Depending on the swimmer’s age/development, it can take approximately 6-12 months of 1x/wk swim lessons to be water safe and learn stroke development. This may sound like a long time, but with our tier 2, 20 min 1x/wk swim lessons, for example, this is less than 17 hours of swim lessons per year.
